"Area 7" by Matthew Reilly

6 May, 1700 hours: Target "Area 7" taken out. Mission status: Accomplished.

"Area 7" is a sequel to "Ice Station", featuring (again) Shane Schofield, a US Marine whose callsign is Scarecrow. This time round, he is stuck in an American Air Force secret base, known as Area 7, hidden deep in the Utah desert. He has to protect the President of the United States who was visiting the base when all hell broke lose. Again, there are many detailed combat/ action scenes throughout the book involving various weapons, aircrafts (CH-53E Super Stallion, AH-77 Penetrator), speedboats, ... Air Force vs Secret Service, South African vs Air Force, US Marines vs Air Force ... Action, action, action, there is not a dull moment.

Again, guys would like this book better than gals for all the action! Although Schofield is the hero in the book, he didn't do it alone. He has a good team of Marines under his command. Two of them were from"Ice Station" too. So there are some character developments as well. But not to worry, "Area 7" can be a stand alone book too, without having read "Ice Station" as Reilly did a good job of describing briefly the various characters and events that took place in "Ice Station", without giving away too much.

I guess what I like about Reilly is that he doesn't make his characters (Schofield in Ice Station, Area 7; Jack West in Seven Ancient Wonders) into a one-man mission who takes on the whole world or something. No, he doesn't make them into macho freaks. Thank goodness, or I would have ditched his books in a second. Hahaha. His characters are down to earth and I really like the themes of friendship, loyalty, honour and courage that run through in his books. So, SA, you know now, why I like Reilly.

Enough said about the author. "Area 7" is a page turner too so don't read it before going to bed. :) If you want something full of action and adventure, "Area 7" it is.

Still surfing the internet at 3:48am?!? SA, you really do sleep LATE! Or do you even sleep at all?? LOL. Yes, I am always doing two things at a time as you will know more later.

Me have very MASCULINE taste in movies and books. Hahaha. Nay, it is not that bad. But I assure you I am otherwise still very feminine, except for the "masculine" choice in movies and books and in some interests, like aircrafts and astronomy. Hahaha. Somehow chick flicks and chicklit just doesn't do it for me, not satisfying enough for me. I think the last chick flick I saw was "The Lake House" but then it was the time warp thing that got me interested. Hahaha.

Ok, Notting Hill, I saw that, not too bad. But you watch chick flicks like Devil Wears Prada?? You are just pulling my leg, right?! A guy watch chick flicks...hmm...allow me a moment please... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL :D. Ok, I shouldn't stereotype too. It's fine for a guy to watch chick flicks but NOT you, right?! I just DON'T believe you. So tell the truth. What movies do you watch, besides the chick flicks? lol :)

I will ask you back then: If you check out the GV listings, what movies do you think I will watch? Let's see how well you know me. Hahaha. Who knows you may get a prize. LOL :)

And no, it can't be "The Swarm" that you found my blog. You responded to me much earlier than that, it was the "Spider, Lunch, Reading" post in mid/ late April. Hahaha. Er, you need to check your memory. HAHAHA.

The $2 chicken rice comes either with steamed, roasted or crispy chicken and they aren't from Botswana. Take your pick. I can bring you to try it. You don't believe me??

Spiderman 3 but if you've already seen that, then it's Fracture.

(I can't access the ticketing system now but a close 3rd would be Hill Have Eyes 2, assuming you've seen the first movie!)

It was the Swarm.. Your Spider entry has the Swarm on it!! Now who needs memory checking!! I bet it's all thos cheap $2 chicken rice.. all the unknown chemicals must've gotten to your brain somehow! :P

So if a gal can watch manly movies why can't a guy watch chick flicks? Ever heard of the New Age Man? LOL

Instead of watching a movie why not visit NLB again to borrow new books? :) Maybe use your KIDS membership cards so you can borrow MORE books!! :) :)

Ok, you win on two accounts.

Yup, I will be going to watch Spiderman 3. Too bad, 28 Weeks Later only shows its sneak on Tuesday. I heard Hills 2, a bit stupid. Hahaha. So you really watch chick flicks?? No other genres? You don't get bored with just chick flicks? Hmm...I still have my doubts, especially with the kinds of books you are reading. Even I am a girl, I can't stand watching chick flicks all the time. Ok, what chick flicks have you seen?

My dear SA, yes, you have got a good memory. I forgot that I mentioned Swarm then. :) Yar, your $3 chicken rice is better. Hahaha.

I will watch Spiderman 3 at Bugis. Then after the movie, I can pop over to NLB to borrow more books!! Hahaha. Kill two birds with one stone. =)

So surfing the internet again tonight? :) Talk to you later :)

Back to boring work for me :(
