Hong Kong Trip 2015 Day 5 Part 1 The University of Hong Kong

Today Juliane and I went to a place which is not on the usual tourist route. At 9:30am, we set off for The University of Hong Kong (HKU)! :) I am going to HKU to pick up a few books from a professor as well as to visit some of the heritage buildings in HKU.
We arrived at HKU station at 10:15am but I exited from the wrong exit and ended up lost (yes, again). We were walking up and down and lucky for us, a lady brought us to Runme Shaw Building. We managed to make it on time to see Professor Mark Bray. He is such a friendly and humble professor. Although Juliane is only a child, he included her in our conversation. For that, I am really grateful to Prof Bray for making Juliane feel she can contribute to the conversation. We left Prof Bray around 11am after he brought us to collect the books I was supposed to pick up.

We browsed around HKU and took photos around the campus. :) We located the Visitor Centre and spent a significant amount of time buying souvenirs haha. :P The Visitor Centre used to be the Worksmen's Quarters of the former Elliot Pumping Station and Filters site of the Water Supplies Department. It is a nice red brick house built in 1918-1919 and is classified as a Grade III historic building.

After the Visitor Centre, we stopped by the University Bookstore which is nearby for a quick browse. There was a display table on all books related to Star Wars! The Force is strong in HKU. :)

Bye bye, HKU. Who knows, Juliane may end up studying there? :P
We left HKU and headed back to Central. We walked from Central Station to Central Pier and we were just in time to catch the 2:15pm Star Ferry Harbour Tour. :) We had a quick lunch of sandwiches while waiting for the Star Ferry to arrive. Once we boarded the Star Ferry, it started to drizzle. My luck with th weather is just not very good. :( I wore my poncho and continued to take photos of the harbour while Juliane sat at the sheltered area watching her Korean drama! (She discovered there was free Wifi on board the ferry, sigh)

The habour tour took an hour and we were back at Central Pier at 3:15pm. We both enjoyed the harbour tour for very different reasons lol. There was time for a trip to the Peak since we were only was meeting my cousin Rita for dinner at 7pm. :)
