Education

I laughed at how close to the truth this quiz is.
My mother believes very strongly in her children getting a good education and that it is our ticket to our dreams. I was influenced by her belief and it also became my belief. I have advanced as far as I could in my education. :) I hope the same for my daughters, if it is their path.
You Are Grad School
You are brilliant, studious, and even a little bit eccentric. You're willing to live life on your own terms.
You believe in education, and you want as much of it as you can get. No one can take your education away from you.

You are a geek at heart, and you love learning. You'd like to get paid to study and teach, even if those jobs are hard to come by.
And even if you can't work in academia, you'll always be an academic at heart. You love the idea of required reading.

Back-to-Back Meetings

Another one of those days where I had back-to-back meetings from 11:45am till 5pm and with the last meeting out of campus. Was mentally exhausted when I got home.

Black and White

Came home late via the mrt and walked though the garden. Took a "black and white" photo of the eco-lake, all natural lighting. :)

Post It

I have a weakness for post it notes.
Aren't they cute?

Singapore Night Festival 2016

This is my first visit to the Singapore Night Festival 2016. If not for my neighbour and friend, Vanessa who asked me if I was interested to go, I would not have gone on my own lol. Juliane also came along with us. :)
We first had dinner at Paper Crane at Waterloo Street. The Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken with slaw and chips is great comfort food! Real crunchy outer layer but juicy and tender chicken within. Yum!
From Waterloo Street, we made our way over to our first pitstop, National Design Centre.
We proceeded to Armenian Street where we caught street performance, Monuments by Moonlight at Armenian Church - a really lovely interactive light installment and The Peranakan Museum Variety Show by Main Wayang which sang old favourites with new lyrics which got the crowd going wild.

Next pitstop was the National Museum of Singapore for the light show and thereafter to Singapore Management University for drinks.
We finally left for home at 10pm as the crowd was getting too much for us to handle lol. It was a fun night of lights.

Haze is Back :(

The haze is back without any warning. :( Woke up to the air full of acrid burning smell. The haze even permeated into my office at work! That's how bad it is.
My workplace at NIE looked as if we are surrounded by fire within our immediate vicinity. :O

Childhood Memories: Stationery

How many of you remember this?! I was so thrilled when I saw it. I couldn't help but keep smiling away. Do you know what it is? Lol.

I used it when I was in kindergarten and in lower primary. It is called gum but I think that word is seldom used now. It is what we call glue now but it is of a thicker consistency and there is a little spoon-like appliance which one can use to scoop out the gum. My girls saw the photo and thought it is old-fashion. So what if it is old fashion, it still does its job of sticking papers together. :)

Credit Card Fraud

I experienced my first ever credit card fraud and it is the most UNPLEASANT experience. :(
UOB called me this morning to inquire if I have made three transaction of close to USD$2000 on my credit card to which I replied negatively. The UOB rep told me my credit card has been used fraudulently and the charges have been blocked and my credit card cancelled. A new credit card will be issued and send to me within the week.
A word of advice to those who permanently have their credit card magnet stripe enabled: Please deactivate/ disable the magnetic stripe for overseas use if you are in Singapore.
I am really glad that from this year on, I started doing this - only enable the magnetic stripe for overseas use when I go overseas. It used to be enabled permanently. If I haven't changed my habit, I would have ended up paying for those fraudulent charges.

My Cute Neighbours

My neighbours are always there when I go to work and when I return from work. Same for my girls. That's why we always leave home earlier and come home later. We interact with our neighbours as good neghbours do haha.

Rest In Peace, Mr S.R. Nathan

Heard news that the former president of Singapore, Mr S.R. Nathan has passed away at 9:48pm at the age of 92 at Singapore General Hospital. I remember him as the longest serving president of Singapore.
Thank you for your contributions to Singapore. Rest in peace, Mr Nathan.

Prelims

Juliane will be having her Prelims this week. The Parent Support Group at SCGS has prepared a little care pack for all the P6 students. It is a really heart-warming and supportive gesture.
Stationery, bookmark, notebook, card of encouragement, snacks (already eaten)
All the best for your Prelims, Juliane. Good Luck!

I just cannot capture the true beauty of the sunset with my phone camera. :(

Banana Chips

This has to be the best banana chips that I have tried so far. It is really thinly sliced and crunchy, unlike most banana chips which are sliced thickly and might be too hard. It is a gift from friend and colleague who is leaving Singapore to work in Hong Kong. She bought it from Philippines. I hope I can find it in Singapore. Maybe at Mustafa Centre?
If you know where I can buy this in Singapore, do let me know. Thanks!

A farewell collage for Maria
Take care, Maria. You have been a wonderful friend and colleague! See you soon in Hong Kong!

This Love by Davichi (다비치)

I have been hearing this song and really like it. I only found out that it is one of the songs from the Descendants of the Sun OST lol. I have yet to watch one episode of this insanely popular Korean drama.
