Summer Plan

The perfect summer plan for me! Lol.
"You Should Binge Watch TV"

When it comes to summer, you'll take a hard pass. You're happy to spend as much time indoors as possible. Some may accuse you of being a vampire, and while you don't like the sun, wouldn't mind catching up on vampire TV shows.

You've got staying cool in the summer down to a science, so much so that you may even sip warm tea under a blanket with the A/C running. Just because it's summer outside doesn't mean it has to be summer inside. You'll reemerge from your cocoon by Halloween... maybe!

SBG Tyersall-Gallop Core

My friend, Vanessa and I went to visit the new Tyersall-Gallop Core at Singapore Botanic Garden. We walked on the elevated boardwalk of the SPH Walk of Giants and round the Keppel Discovery Wetlands before proceeding to a yummy breakfast at Bee's Knees at The Garage.

Starbucks Local Delights

Here are the Starbucks' Local Delights cakes which I have tried - Horlicks White Chocolate Cake, Pulut Hitam Cake and Ondeh Ondeh Gula Melaka Cake (forgot to take photo). So far, I like both Horlicks and Pulut Hitam cakes.

I had lunch with a former NIE colleague and friend who is now working at MOE. It was a great catch-up session. Thanks for lunch, Han Jing!

Change of Environment

Two days in a row, I have had meetings at MOE. It is a nice change of environment and at the same time, it reminded me of my MOE HQ days.

AERA 2018

In less than 4 days, my team and I managed to churn out 3 abstracts (not more than 2000 words each) to be submitted to AERA 2018 on 24 July 2017.
Now that they are submitted, we shall cross our fingers and wait for the best.

Marieann's PSG Dedicated Service Award 2017

I attended St Margaret's Secondary School's 175th Speech & Prize-giving Day.
I am really proud to see Marieann on stage to receive the PSG Dedicated Service Award 2017 for her outstanding contributions to Library Club! This is her second year as a CCA leader since she became one when she was in Sec 2. She has definitely outdone me! I used to be Head Librarian in SCGS Secondary but never received any award lol. Besides the trophy and the certificate, she also received a cheque of $100.
The silly girl initially didn't want to attend the prize-giving and would rather help out backstage as she did at last year's Speech & Prize-giving Day. Although she seemed as if it didn't bother her, I could tell that it meant a lot to her that I attended the prize-giving. :)

AERA 2018?

Professional Judgement

What will you do if someone, not in your profession, doubts your professional judgement?

SAPA Workshop

Today is the second workshop that I conducted at Springfield Secondary School. I really enjoyed interacting with the teachers and the VP as they started on their hands-on after my brief recap of SAPA (self-assessment and peer assessment). The highlight of the workshop was the sharing by all the groups which I thought were extremely beneficial to all.

Preparation

Either I am getting better at this or I am just getting better at this lol. Preparing for tomorrow's workshop doesn't seem to take up too much time now. Only took me half a day to prepare.

Life's Simple Pleasures 2017

Nothing better than enjoying a hot bowl of delicious mee hoon soto soup (non-spicy) in the school canteen on a wet and cool day (amid the students' staring haha). I just couldn't resist adding a perfectly fried egg with crispy edge!

Crunch Time

It is crunch time for those of us putting in our grant proposals. Food first before writing!

Bike-Sharing

I have been seeing oBike bicycles around Singapore when travelling around on buses, MRT and taxi. It is a bike-sharing system where people will download the oBike app, locate the nearest oBike, unlock the bike and then locked it again once one is done with the bike.
I finally see an oBike up close when it is just parked outside my estate. Actually, won't it be a nuisance when people just parked their oBike wherever they fancy?

Food for Thought

Plenty of food for thought on this day as we had a meeting at the National Library Board and lunch after that with great company.

A Blind Date with...

Chinese books! It's been a while since I last read Chinese books. Am thrilled to read them again, especially in traditional form.

CHS Family Day & Homecoming

I was invited by Catholic High School to their Family Day and Homecoming held today 830am-3pm because of our partnership with the school in providing their students work experience opportunities with my project. I had a great time with my RA and friend, Cheryl. Unfortunately, Filzah and Liyana couldn't join us as they had to go visiting for their Hari Raya.
Super delicious! Regretted not buying more.
